At its narrowest it is only 2 feet wide
No, you are incorrect. at the narrowest point the K gate is 3 feet, as this is the standard.
and a Fireman would have to
turn sideways to get through it.
Why? People who can walk can get through it, people who are wheelchair users can get through it. What's the problem?
These gates are used in parks up and down the country to prevent unauthorized vehicles getting through.
But wait, that's it! You have said in previous posts that you wish to drive your car down to the river.
On a good day 1000 people will be in
the wood and this is the only escape if there is a bush or forest
fire.
There are three other exit points, plus exits through the main part of the Orwell Country Park.
Today I saw a twin baby buggy get jammed in it so you can
imagine the panic if a wheelchair got jammed when many folk were
trying to escape.
Well considering that even a fat bloke like me can get through using a big powerchair, and other people can get through using large mobility scooters that are only one step away from being a car, and that no twin buggies that I or other people have seen have got stuck. I don't see what the problem is.
These gates cause no problems in the New Forest, or Peak National Park, nor any of the other places where they have been used for years.
Do you think it is acceptable?
I find the gates very acceptable thank you. Especially as it stops most youths riding around the park on scooters and motor bikes.
The only problem is it doesn't stop kids on mini bikes, but you can't have everything.
