Firstgate Click&Buy

Click&Buy is an online payment service like Paypal. I have used it to
subscribe to News.Individual.Net and have given them my credit card details
with presumably a continuous payment authority.

After my first renewal to News.Individual.Net I immediately cancelled my
next scheduled renewal (scheduled for a years time) and to be safe I have
asked Click&Buy to cancel my account with them.

I expected Click&Buy to send me an email confirming that my Click&Buy
account had been cancelled as promised on their website
http://clickandbuy.com/EU/en/help/help.html, However instead they emailed me
back saying that I should wait a year to cancel my Click&Buy account as if I
didn't my access to New.Individual.Net would be blocked even though I have
paid for a years subscription. They said I would find a "detailed
description of this issue on the website, I couldn't find it.

Now I can't see anything in the terms and conditions of News.Individual.Net
or Click&Buy that imply I have to keep the Click&Buy account open in order
to have access to the newserver.I also think it is dangerous to leave my
credit card details with companies who are at best misleading so I emailed
them again to ask them to cancel my Click&Buy account immediately and
explain why my News.Individual.Net access would be withdrawn.

So far after over a week they haven't replied and my account is still open.
Now I just don't trust them how can I ensure this company don't try to
withdraw more money from my credit card.

I mainly posted here because I remember a thread on credit card continuous
authorities where a poster repeatedly insisted that one only had to inform
the company in question when he wanted the authority to end. This is the
first time since that thread that I have tried and surprise, surprise it
just isn't true.
