Now, had you never displayed the pass whilst in your own parking space
and had been clamped for the first time, you could argue that you were
unaware that your own space was covered - but it sounds like you had
accepted the necessity and had been displaying a permit whilst in your
own space. You had clearly accepted that your own space is covered in
the scheme - it could be argued that it is a little late to now claim
that it should not be/ was not covered.

I think you jump to that conclusion a little too fast. It's quite
possible that the OP usually made a habit of carrying the permit and
having it on display, in case for some reason he occasionally used a
'communal' space, but didn't know or accept that it was required when
he was in his own private space.

" I forgot to display my permit the other day whilst parked in my own
car parking space".

But leaseholders traditionally have a misunderstanding when claiming to
own a parking space, believing themselves to be in the same position as
a freeehold-owner owning their drive.

All depends on what the lease actually says.
