Motorcycles - White light reflected rearwards.

I noticed a biker the other day with a high viz vest on.

It was dark and all I could see from the distance was two stips of
reflective white tape. So there's no doubt this was contributing to his
safety.

However, it occured to me that he was technically breaking the law
which I _believe_ forbids white light to be reflected backwards.

Is that right?
