They were 'swept' out according to the accident report rather than sucked out. No passenger was sucked out even those not wearing a seat belt, nor was any other crew member.
Not quite true according to the later analysis. The intitial hole was
relatively small. It was the passage of the air hostess through the
hole that caused the sudden promulgation of cracks that resulted in
the entire top section ripping off.
Do you have any citation for that? Nothing I have read in the FAA report indicates that the exit of the flight attendant played any part. They were standing at seat row 5 and exited through the hole in the left side of the aircraft. The floor also deformed upwards (perhaps a contributing factor)?
There was no 'initial hole' rather a longitudinal crack in the upper row of rivets along the S-10L lap joint, about halfway between the cabin boor and the edge of the jet bridge hood. This was spotted by one of the passengers as they boarded and agrees with the subsequent analysis of the accident.
The fact that the lap joint was not bonded to the tear straps allowed the initial tear to propagate uncontrollably.
