Went to Wickes today to buy an extension cable. Went I left the shop, the
beep
was sounding. Not wanting to be a prat, I immediately returned to the
cashier
to sort it out. She apologised and put a scanning tool over the item,
apparently
to neutralise the RF coil. She then refused to give me the carrier bag and
insisted that I should approach the exit without the carrier bag,
apparently to
test if the machine would beep. She would then hand me the carrier bag
once I
was outside! Again, I didn't want to stir up a fuss as I badly needed the
cable.
But I'm really annoyed that they put me through such an embarrassing
situation

A few years My brother and I went into a Wicks Store and bought a large
chest type tool box and a few other odds and sorts. As we went through the
check out we had paid for it and were about to go on our way when a
supervisor walked up to the check out and ignoring us said to the check out
assistant "make sure you check inside the chest in case they have left
anything in there"
We didn't mind them checking the box as it was certainly big enough to get
several expensive items inside but all she had to say something like "
excuse me sir but we have to check inside large items like this before they
leave the store" not as it seemed to us assume we were probably thieving
and not even Worth talking to directly.

I had a similar situation quite recently, buying a new rucksac. I waited
until she had checked every single pocket and storage place and then
told her to keep it - and the other articles that she had already
"checked out".

I told her that I wouldn't be shopping there again as there are plenty
of other shops selling the same things that don't quite so obviously
treat their customers as thieves..

I was having an arguement with the security check out at Costo a couple
of weeks ago because he said the receipt had two items on it and a I
actually only had one. Now I had taken a film in for processing and had
gone back to collect it so I knew that I only had one item and didn't
give a damn why the receipt had two items.
It transpired that there were two items and one was cancelled. When I
gat home and was able to check the receipt with my specs the guy on the
till had keyed in one digit too many hence the incorrect cancelled
item.
I really couldn't see the point of the security picky an arguement
because I was trying to leave the store with actually fewer items than
he thought that I had paid for.
These people wonder why customers get uptight. No apolgy of course for
being delayed.
