5 years ago my youngest sister had the idea of selling her house and
selling our ageing mother's house to buy a larger property with granny
flat. Approx 80k equity each covering the £160k property. After a
family meeting with solicitors the agreed option was for the sister to
"take" her inheritance now and own £110k and for mum to own £50k as
tenants-in-common. The £50k share would then form main part of the
estate for myself and middle sister. The solicitors agreed to write
down a record of the discussion and send a copy to my 2 sisters and
myself.

A year later I discover that none of this transpired and that my
sister had persuaded mum to give her all the money and the house is
all in the sister's name.

More recently I am led to believe that sister now has CCJ's and a
mortgage. If I mention finances to her she goes into a tantrum and
says she would never enquire into my finances. Middle sister has
given up any hope of ever seeing anything.

So now I'm looking for some advice on the best way to proceed.

Additionally:

1) Have I got any claim against the original solicitors for doing
other than what was agreed? My mother is about 80yrs old and whilst
she is not senile she certainly would not have understood all the
implications of handing everything over to younger sister. She would
just assume "it's family so it's ok" and of course was grateful that
she would not be living alone.

Tyr talking to thew solictor and ask why what was agreed did not happen.
Just writing down what was aid woul;d not actaully implement the agreement
which would have required your mother's consnet. Each party should have had
independant advice.

2) How best to I ascertain independently what the debts my sister has?
Equifax? Am I allowed to ask for this information?
