No problem. We could have offered him a mixture of sticks and carrots and
he
would have been gentle as a lamb. But Blair and Bush blundered in, like
bulls in a china shop, determined to secure their "place in history" by
burning and blasting some Iraqis.
Hindsight has nothing to do with it. Who could have guessed that it would
all go so badly wrong? Well, about 5000 civil servants in America and the
UK, whose memos were ignored by the likes of Rumsfeld, Bush and Blair.
Hindsight has everything to do with it IMO. Practically everybody,
including the useless UN thought Saddam was developing WMD (and
although no actually WMD has been found, plenty of programs were
found).
In a new world where terrorists are prepared to kill millions if
allowed to do so, I fully supported the invasion of Iraq on the basis
it wasn't worth the risk allowing him to develope such weapons in case
they got into the wrong hands.
I will also support whatever action is required to prevent Iran
building a nuclear bomb for exactly the same reason.
Really? Whatever action is required?
Would your view remain the same if this time Bush and Blair accepted,
reluctantly, that the action required is to lick Iran's arse, give it
billions of dollars as a bribe and dismantle the state of Israel?
