about 2 years ago and is no longer under guarantee. The backlight
failed and the monitor is beyond repair. Curry's told me this is
due to general wear and use and not a defect. I calculate I've had
less than 10,000 hours use out of it which is much less than the
average value expected, which I've researched on the internet. Is
there anything I can do?
after a couple of years , and a backlight is an easy fix.
I don't think that a fault of this nature after this period makes
it not of merchantable quality and they are probably within their
rights to refuse
He has apparently been told that the monitor is beyond repair -
perhaps this means the fault is out of the ordinary and the cost of
repair would exceed the cost of buying a new one.
Odd. The inverter board is usually a dead easy fix
I think Medion products are not easy to get spares for.
Do medion actually make much themselves?
Their PCs seem to be assembled with a bunch of standard parts so I wouldn't
be surprised if the monitor comes out of a far eastern factory with a whole
bunch of names stuck to it
I don't know.
Although I have looked at a few of their products before deciding
against, the only one I have ever actually bought was a laptop (from
Tesco).
And surprisingly, that is actually still (mostly) working, 6 years
later - my daughter now uses it. I do know that when the floppy drive
stopped working, I couldn't get a replacement (she now uses an
external one).
