I am pretty certain that neither the 11 year old who had been terified
or his parents would have been happy to hear that we were all busily
looking for the factor in the bully's life that caused him to behave
in that way. If a person you love were to be violently raped and
beaten, would you be happy to hear that the police have identified the
perpetrator and have explained to him that what he did was not very
nice, and were now looking for ways to address his bad family life?

You must gain a lot of comfort that your views are so common,
particularly among Sun and Express readers, and that your instict to
retailiate in the same manner as the bully, leaves Britain with the
highest prison population of a civilised country.

Somewhat illogical. There are those who say we should "bring back the birch"
and that the courts should be able to order that a defendant be beaten
instead of sent to gaol. We have what presumably you see as a more civilised
remedy, whereby the convicted man is deprived of his liberty and given the
opportunity to attend courses in prison that address the causes of his
violent behaviour. Many convicted men have benefited from such courses but
the fact nevertheless remains that we have far too many people in prison and
nothing else (fines that don't get paid, community service) acts as a
deterrent.

Your inability at
this time to find an alternative is due to the fact that parts of your
emotional mapping are missing. This is why you can only see dark
hollows where I tell you there are roads. Every day, in every corner
of Britain, people are proving you wrong, and if you prefer to roam
around with the mob rather than think, there is no amount I can do to
change your view. When the pupil is ready, the teacher will appear.
It will be a very emotional discovery for you, and I do see you dipping
your toes in the water albiet with great caution and finding the water
very cold.

You reckon, maybe, his first step must be to go to his newsagent and place
an order for a better sort of newspaper?

Every day in every corner of Britain, people are being bullied and
humiliated. Maybe sometimes it is by teachers but usually it is children
being bullied by other children, adults being bullied in the workplace. The
problem might now be far more widespread than ever before. If you believe
you have the skills to cure a bully of his habits, you have a lot of hard
work to do and you might encounter far more hostility than you expect. I see
you plunging into the water exultantly and within moments having your
bollocks bitten off by a group of sharks.
