All my certification and company awards went up in smoke about 10 years
ago.
The company I worked for has gone bust leaving no records, and the
college I attended was closed down in a fraud investigation about 8
years ago, and I can't trace any records there.
I did complete all modules within the full term of apprenticeship - had
my work signed off by the EITB validator, and received certificates at
the completion in 1975 to add to the earlier one received in 1972. The
current awarding body refuse to believe I continued after 1972.
I have got City and Guilds replacement certificates for my Parts I II &
III exams through till 1975, no problem with their records which show
all my details correctly.
You are correct in questioning the value of EITB training - no one in
this country gives a damn - and that seems to be reflected in the
attitude of the current skills council.
New Zealand immigration seem to recognise EITB awards, and do ask to
see the certification along with the C&G passes when you apply under
the skilled trades catagory.
I just find it hard to believe that all that is left of the EITB is a
few records of passes on microfiche, and that an historical archive has
not been kept.
