I am certain my employer's son was passing confidential information
of one client onto other clients who are in direct competition, as I
was present in meetings where this happened. His father, my employer
also passed sensitive information in a similar manner! My ex employer
was certainly not waiting to seek legal advice as I was not treated in
a proper legal manner i.e. I was not issued with a letter or invited to
attend a hearing or allowed any sort of representation. I think had
they sought legal advice the dismal would have been carried out in a
proper manner.

So you are saying that there was no meeting at which he was tried
and convicted (even if just a kangaroo court)? He was just given a
letter?

IIRC an automatically unfair dismissal

Described in here somewhere:

plus there's an uplift in any subsequent award for not following
the procedure.

I accept the use of the material was in breach of
copyright but do you think it was liable to cause the company any
losses? I was not distributing the material for personal gain merely as
a vehicle to promote debate amongst calligraphy enthusiasts.

I can't see that this merits anything more serious than a verbal
warning and struggle to agree even with that.

I really do think that you have a strong case for a claim
and on this occasion recommend that you find a specalist
solicitor to help you. The increases in compensation that
results ought to more than pay his fee.
