Speed camera question

A week ago I was travelling up the A1 in a hire car.
I know where all the speed cameras are because I travel the route regularly.
On approaching a camera in a 60mph zone I ensured that I was under the limit
(about 58-ish mph).
The camera flashed me twice.
I checked the speedo and I was still safely under 60.

Where do I stand if the hire car speedometer was reading incorrectly? Am I
still liable?

Andy
