I haven't seen anyone here expressing, either openly or implicitly,
any such suggestion.

This time round, think back over the past few years during which this case has been discussed and I believe that you'll have to concede at least to a degree that one of the major concerns raised by the great unwashed is that they could not conceive that such a pillar of the community could have committed such a heinous offence. Of course now it turns out that he's as dishonest as they come and his violent nature wasn't to far below the surface the arguments have changed ... and of course they have, no one likes to be wrong, especially when it's a smug self satisfied git like myself who's been telling them they are wrong so they will persist in their arguments, no matter how convoluted or unlikely they'll become. In essence though the objection remains the same, the chap was a Daily Mail reader, how could he be guilty of anything?

I can honestly say that I do not recall ever having seen such a view expressed here, and would have given it very short shrift if I had, given the extensive legitimate concerns expressed about this conviction.
