TV licensing (was Nonsense from BBC continues apace)

Slightly different issue, but my late mother's bungalow has been empty for
two years. I naturally wrote to them when she died (she had a freebie).
Every couple of months I get a letter, the first few addressed to her and
then to "The owner". They said stuff like "vans will be in the area". Whilst
they invited me to return them if undelivered, they all went in the bin I'm
afraid. Today's was a bit different, it was a "sealed postcard" like a pay
slip which you have to tear the edges off to get into. This had a bunch of
officious wording saying "we have authorised someone to pay you a visit" or
words to that effect. It went in the bin too. Really, isn't it time to get
rid of this completely pointless agency which must be a deadweight cost and
fund the Beeb from taxation. After all, the government decides what their
revenue is to be. It would get rid of all the nonsense and complication with
students, holiday homes, caravans. It might have made some sense when a TV
was a luxury product but surely not now.
