Couldn't agree more. My newspaper today referred to the "well-deserved
knighthood" for Tom Jones in view of his highly successful singing
career!!!! Many people are 'highly successful' in their careers - but don't
get gongs for it!! The whole honours system stinks - particularly when
debauched and thoroughly unpleasant characters like Elton John are made
knights. (and no - I'm not referring to him as 'debauched' simply because of
his sexual orientation - but rather because of his well-publicised behaviour
in the past - rent boys etc.)
