I've just this year had lung damage confirmed as being caused by
asbestos. As far as I can make out the only way I can make a claim is
if I can prove where I contacted the stuff. Since it can take decades
to show itself anyone who like me, moved around, is on a hiding to
nothing. I was originally told it was dust damage so assumed it was a
coal dust problem from my time in the mining industry. Went through
the compansation claim only to be told I was ineligible due to me
being classed as a surface worker. That was government policy.

Then got another checkup at the hospital a few months ago where a
specialist told me it was definitely asbestos damage as it had a
different appearance to coal dust damage. Either way I'm stuffed
anyway. :(
