These phishing emails are really pissing me off. What are the authorities doing? They have the IP addresses of the fraudsters. They can easily trace their identities from there. Why can't they come down on them like a ton of bricks? Judging by the number of such emails I have received, phishing is not only a live pastime for a bunch of lame lowlifes, it is also a growing one.
Then there's also those idiotic "I am a rich man in some corrupt African dictatorship but I need your help in laundering money, you'll get a big cut as well" emails. How many people fall for that one?
Yes, I've tried reporting them to the banks/Ebay/Paypal/etc. and all I get is an automated response saying thanks. After a while you realise it's just not worth the effort, they don't do anything anyway.
On Nigerian emails there is usually a valid yahoo or hotmail email address to respond to, I usually mailbomb the address with 10,000 fake emails, so that the inbox is filled up with crap and the conman has to wade thru loads of *** to find any genuine repsonses.
For phishing I respond with fake account details, again to give them some crap to wade theu and hopefully give them less time for attacking real accounts.
It would be nice to have a website where you could report scams and similar attacks on conmen could be automated ie report a email address of a conman, and have the site mailbomb it, report a phisher and have the site bombard the phisher with DOS attack.
