Some help and advice if you please.
Year or so ago my son took out some web hosting thing with 1&1 web hosting on the internet He paid with my permission using my credit card £10.45
Since this he has flown the coop
However couple of months ago i was notified that this ere 1&1 had tried to take another £10.45 but could not because my cc details were showing an out of date card and would i be good enough to go to their control panel an update my details so that they could take their money.
I was shocked to realise that they had kept my details on their system.
I went to the control panel and munged the card rdetails to make damn certain they could not use it
My son had not used their services and in fact had cancelled via a letter to their head office and online.
I have now recieved a letter from a debt collecting agency in Marleybone London.
They are now seeking to get both the £10.45 + a further £15.00 to cover their expenses.
questions Can they do this
Firstly.....
Presumably, the contract was between them and your son - if so, you should tell them that you have never had a contract with 1 & 1, , that the contract was with your son, and you are not sure why they are pursuing you for the debt.
You could also include a copy of the letter and e.mail from your son cancelling the agreement.
Then see what they do.
Should i pay just to keep my credit clean
Could they escalate a £10.45 debt ad infinitum
any info or sensible suggestions on this matter would be appreciated...

PS I or my son have not signed anything to my knowledge.
when i rang 1&1 today they say they have no record of a cancellation and has it has been passed on to a debt agency , i must pay the agency
