Job Description

Geoquip Ltd. is a world leader in the development of electronic
Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems (PIDS) for the security industry.
Over the past two years, we have been slowly expanding into software
development with the introduction of a new Java-based Security
Management System for controlling our own PIDS systems and third-party
CCTV equipment.

We are now looking to recruit a junior developer with two or more years
Java experience. This will initially be a dual role combining
development with on-site support. On-site work will involve the
installation of new Geolog systems and the maintenance of existing ones.
Development work will involve the addition of new drivers for third
party hardware and new features such as support for IP video and
replaying stored events.

Requirements:

Two or more years Java experience including working with Swing and JDBC.

Degree in computing or mathematics.

Experience with some or all of the following:
Linux or Unix
PostgreSQL, Oracle or HSQL
XML and XSLT
User interface design
Electronics
RMI, JMS or similar
Subversion, Ant and build management tools
Unit and system testing
IP Video
Customer-facing support

Knowledge of the security industry would be advantageous as would having
security clearance.

Location: Wirksworth, Derbyshire.
Salary: negotiable depending on experience.
