VB programmer - East Hampshire

We are a small specialist software house developing applications in the
niche examinations and assessment and charities market.

One of our developers has decided that after seven years it's time for
him to move on and he will be leaving us at the end of January, so we
need to find a replacement.

We currently develop in VB6 against SQLServer and Oracle, but are moving
to VB.Net. Ideally the person we recruit will have been developing using
these tools in a commercial environment and will have experience of the
full development lifecycle. Web skills, or at least a basic grounding
plus enthusiasm will also be welcome.

We are proud of our client relationships, so a friendly 'can do'
attitude when confronted by an unexpected call in the middle of a
difficult job is very important.

Many of our clients are overseas (Africa and the Caribbean) so travel
may be a possibility (although this would only ever be for a couple of
weeks at most).

We suffer all the usual small company problems - we don't pay thousands
every year for training courses, we don't offer an extensive range of
company benefits and we don't have a multi-level formalised structure to
shoe-horn anyone into.

Instead we are a professional, friendly company where people who take
responsibility, get given responsibility and we all help each other.
People who come here tend to stay for quite a while.


The salary will depend on experience but will be around £25-£30K PA
