Any businessman who has people on his payroll that he's not going to be able to replace because of an increase in the minimum wage needs to figure out why he's working so close to the margin that he can't afford an extra ten bucks or so per day for each of his entry level work force, particularly since all of his competitors will be facing the same problem, if the increase in the minimum wage is one he can't absorb and cutting out a replacement worker because of it doesn't interfere with the efficiency of his operation, then that increase did him a favor by giving him an excuse to cut out fat from his payroll that probably didn't contribute much to the business anyway, and why he can't absorb the increase without making a federal case out of it and just consider it an increase in his cost of doing business, just as he does when the price of gasoline for his trucks goes up more than he anticipated. ... So, if they need to raise the cost of what they sell, so will every other business that is in competition with them.... ...
