Assistive Technology Support Specialist

The University Computing Service, which is situated in the centre of
Cambridge and provides computing facilities and related services to the
University and Colleges, requires an Assistive Technology Support
Specialist.

If appointed, you will support Information Technology (IT) hardware and
software specifically relevant to disabled users and sufferers from
Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI). This would include day-to-day running of
the Assistive Technology Facility in the Computing Service and support for
the Disability Resource Centre¹s computers, database and web site,
including the web server. Training of the disabled in use of assistive
technologies is a major part of the role, both one-to-one training and
group training in a classroom situation. You will also be expected to
assist in giving general technical support to members of the University
through the Service¹s Help Desk.

You should have broad experience of IT, experience of working with the
disabled, and be a patient and understanding trainer. Ideally you will
have worked with one or more assistive technology products.

This is a permanent appointment as a Computer Officer Grade III on a
salary scale of £23,643 to £29,127 with initial salary dependent on
