SYSTEM DESIGN ENGINEER - (SMR)

Tax Free Salary equivalent £46 - 53,000 full package
PRINCIPAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

· Report to System Design Authority.

· Requirements Definition, Design, specification, and competitive
procurement mobile radio and associated equipments.

· Review of subcontractor proposals for design, installation, testing
commissioning and acceptance test plans.

· Supervision of sub-contractor implementing and bringing Into
Service the Mobile Radio system.

· Provide expertise in each of the following areas -

· Design and dimensioning of Secure Mobile Radio (SMR) systems in
conjunction with specific sub-contractors, and the interface of these
to the existing SMR system and the communications transport network.

· Specification of SMR equipment and associated equipment.

· Management systems associated with mobile radio systems and
associated EMS for support subsystem.

· Supervision of the implementation of SMR system.

· Acceptance and Bringing Into Service of an SMR system.

· Provide technical proficiency in associated areas which includes -

· Interface with Voice and data services infrastructure;

· Data handling applications associated with an SMR system.

· Standards related (ITU & Other) recommendations with respect to
IETF protocols, PSTN networks, signalling systems etc.

· IP and ATM data networks.

· Review of subcontractor proposals, preparation of progress reports,
assistance in Design review procedures, technical liaison with
subcontractors.

· Informal Meetings, Formal Meetings, Correspondence and Reports with
respect to Middle Management, Network Control & Maintenance Staff

· Judgement/ Decision making authority - Commensurate with the above
duties and responsibilities, as delegated.

EXPERIENCE/ QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

· First Degree in relevant communications/ networks, or HND with
appropriate experience.

· Membership of a professional Institution.

· 10 Years experience in Telecomm, of which at least 5 have been in a
similar Design role.

· Technical understanding and experience with modern radio systems.

· Understanding of IP/ ATM/ SDH/ TDM technologies .

· Experience working overseas, preferably in KSA/ Middle East.

· Familiar with Microsoft Packages, Excel, Word, Project.
