Apparently it is far to efficient at collecting peoples rubbish, and on
a County level, is been threatened with signifigant fines from central
Government, unless the total collected is not reduced.

The practical and political consequences are potentially significant,
that aside have other people experience of this process?

Did your local authority find the process an improvement? Have any
local authorities gone back to a weekly collection having moved to a
fortnight one???

What's your council's recycling rate and what else do they propose to raise it? Cambridge starts alternate week collections this month

Presently 30%, to rise to 40%. (source: local press, so not sure how accurate figures are).
How has it gone down their? We havent got the crowds with pitchforks and burning torches here yet, but I get the feeling we will soon.

We have been on fortnightly collections for 18 months. We have a green bin and box collection in the alternate weeks. When a heat treatment centre come on stream we will be able to accept food waste in the green bin - which should reduce the main element of complaints.

The overwhelming proportion of people seem to cope. We do have a vociferous minority who complain egged on by the the local evening paper who seem to be very against it.

There does seem to be an increase of rubbish being dumpped into litter bins.
