the jigsaw, an official 360 wireless adapter.
It was easy enough to set up, I can play on COD4 on live with no
problems but when I try to stream HD-WMVs from my PC it spends upwards
of 90 seconds buffering and then plays as little as 20 seconds then
will pause and buffer again.
When I had it all connected by wires there was no delay, the file
would start automatically with no delay and no buffering.
The PC wireless connection claims to be conected at full speens, 54
mbits/s and the signal strength and quility are both at about 80% so
there seems to be no problem there.
The PC claims to be uploading at a rate of only 100k/s.
any clues why?
As I stated on the original post the PC connection is synched at
54mbits/s, I have no idea what the 360 is connected at but the 360
wireless adapter is only a foot away from the PC adapter and works
fine on live so I can't believe that is significantly different.
It doesn't matter what the reported synchronisation is, the *actual* connection speed is entirely different. I will guarantee it's nowhere near 54Mbps though! I've never been able to stream HD content over 802.11g WiFi, even in what would seem like perfect conditions.
Some things can seriously effect your connection speeds. Do you have cordless phones in your house? Are there other wireless networks in the area? Is there other network traffic, such as broadband sharing the connection? Do you have Bluetooth devices active?
Even with all these things removed from the equation, there will almost certainly still be interference from somewhere and you will likely never stream HD content over 802.11g. Streaming HD video is pretty bandwidth intensive stuff!
Out of interest why did you strip out a wired network and opt for Wireless? I would also pick cables over airwaves any day, the only disadvantage to a wired network is setting it up and running the cables, but you already had that done.
