This what I said on a TV NG and what I am now doing...sorts the problem
...scoopy boy...

Just got one and it was free cos I have additional set top box in
bedroom...this is superb...Just like sky+ box really...except no sky one
etc..however, downloading torrents off the web and getting my star treks and
stargates etc and ripping them to DVD (DivX) then treaming them to HDTV via
xbox 360 and tversity program setup on PC as 360 cannot play DivX you need
Tversity setup...I am astonished, I tried to switch to sky but alas they
couldnt get a signal, except indie contractor to get a dish on roof,
anyways, council refused permission to have a satelite dish, so I went for
the free V+ box, I been with telewest 6 years and did not realise how I
depended on sky one..no matter..other ways of dealing with this problem and
I got sci fi..(I am a sci fi buff too)...but all Virgin customers, get that
box, only BBC4 is available free in HD and my TV outputs 720p and I saw 1080
so I pressed button and its 1080i! Gah, back to 720p as its better
resolution IMO....

sorry to rant...just pleased with Virgin for a change....the engineer did
not see sky one coming back to VM so wtf, we do what we can....the V+ box
lets you record 2 channels simultaneously, so I can just record stuff, check
my 80GB HD, and then sit down at night and watch what I want when I want
now..that was /is the plan since sky one gone..
