Time to think about a next gen machine for me....
PS3 - too expensive (plus Gran Turismo, Katamari and ICO are the only PS2
games I've even played to death) ,
Wii - interesting (may go for one if cheap enough) but probably not many
of the type of game I'm interested in.
360 definately, as Forza and PGR are the two titles I've played most ever!
Unfortunately, my TV is a lowly 28in WS. (Buying a new one is a no-no for
at least a few years, until the baby stops putting yoghurty hands on it
and trying to colour it in!)
TV has a decent picture (Sony Wega engine), but the question is, is it
wotthwhile getting a 360 without HD? Graphics aren't everything and the
360 games I am sure offer more depth etc than the Xbox titles, but will I
see any major difference?
you will still see the graphical improvements the 360 has on a normal TV,
the 720P render is scaled down to 480i, it just wont be as crisp.
Make sure you buy the Scart RGB lead, and I would say you are going to be
impressed with the 360 on a Sony tube, try a photo slide show and the music
visualizer and you should notice how well the 360 is putting out an image
compared to previous consoles.
people seem to be 'blown away' by the glossier brighter image an LCD gives
over CRT, rather than the actual higher res, if you like racing games the
action is going to be moving too fast to really nit pick over image quality.
Im on the side who think HD for gaming is overhyped, which isnt saying I
dont think its good, but been there so many times before when upgrading the
PC.
