To follow myself up in case anyone googles this.
It was pretty much as simple as turning on ICS for the WAN connection.
Two wrinkles though - the DNS servers had to be manually added to the 360
settings, although the IP address, netmask and gateway were provided to the
360 by ICS.
The other problem was that ZoneAlarm was blocking the connection to live
from the 360. Recommended to disable ZoneAlarm for the duration of the Live
session. The Windows XP firewall can be left on without causing a problem.
Has anyone on here got Live working through an ICS connection, on a PC
that has Zonealarm running? I know you can configure ZA to allow
certain programs on the PC to have constant access to the net, but does
it allow network access constantly?
I set up Live last night, and got online seamlessly, but I had disabled
ZA as a precaution (still have XP firewall running).
By the way, I have changed my setup to use a crossover cable instead of
a straight through network cable, and Live worked first time - so I'm
not sure about the '360 doesn't care if you use a crossover or not'
comments being 100% correct.
