Re: Returned 360's

I'm not calling people who buy early 'idiots', if you have the money,
don't mind taking the risk (which there is, however big or small),

There is no risk, simply because if a product is not fit for purpose, it
must be replaced or your money refunded. By EU law. OK - it might
electrocute and kill you, but then your estate could sue ;-)

then if you really want it/need it now, go for it. I'm just doing the same
thing, offering an opinion - like you now have. I'm also not singling out
the X360, I think it would have to be really bad to be worse than the
number of returned PS2's in it's launch window, that was also abysmal.

PSP too, as whenever there is demand, the guy sat on the end of the
production line is wary of throwing anything out of the line - they have
deadlines and quotas, and early adoption is fraught with risk.....going
off more than my own experience I might add, my ex girlfriend worked in
Argos......the amount of newly released consoles coming back, going back
as far as the Saturn, PSX, PS2, Xbox, PSP funnily enough, less so for all
the Nintendo machines (though shouldn't come as any big surprise to
anyone)...she worked through all those releases....and she says it's
*always* risky.

But it's priced in.....

You worked in Game, didn't you find this?

People working in retail will not see the big picture.

Product launches have liability and class failure insurance up the ass. And
it's costed into the retail price. It's part of doing business.

Also, was that 75 number from the whole of the North West? I thought
someone said one route? Anyway, point is the same. Offering advice to wait
a few weeks, till the rush is over, is not patronising, intended or
otherwise.....

The volume sales aren't in the first few months anyway. They are towards the
back of the curve....your point is correct though in that early units will
be more prone to failure and more expensive. But hey - that's consumer
electronics for you. Both manufacturers and consumers should ensure they are
insured.....

I think you have read in-between the lines and summarised that from my
other posts regarding personal opinion on the X360, and also taking into
account you own one and bought it early - I think you took it personally.
I wager if it was now during the PSP launch still, and I suggested people
waited until the possibility of getting a dead pixel machine was lessened,
you wouldn't have reacted possibly at all, and definitely not in such a
defensive manner. But there you go. :\
