Hello

I live out in the middle of no-where, I've just had my basic 512/256
line installed and its running really well.

So pleased to finally get off dial-up!!! Only took what 6 years!!!

I've got an XBOX and am getting the XBOX 360 soon.

I've got 1 PC running from the modem supplied by the ISP connected
direct to the phone socket through the modem and into the PC, and thats
all I have.

What I want to do is to get some kind of router? and have the PC wired
in with a cable and have the XBOX wireless. Can I do that?

Can some of you helpful people explain what I need to buy, and suggest
what make/model router to buy, cost isn't a major issue - I just want
to be able to get onto live with the minimum of hassle.

Also I want to use my Nintendo DS wireless online - so I am hoping I
can do all of that without it getting too complex, as I'm OK with the
PC but have never setup any kind of network, and even now writing this
I am getting a tad concerned how complicated its going to be.

Put my mind at rest...

Thanks A Lot.

Depending on the type of BB you have you'll need a router or router/adsl
modem, wireless is better and not too expensive.

I got a Belkin setup and its a dream with the 360, DS and PSP as well as
my laptop.

Martin

Cheers how do you mean type of broadband, you've lost me there its ADSL
via NDO ISP.

Yeah I want wireless for the XBOX but I don't want the PC wireless.

Thanks
Buy a wireless ADSL router (get one with a build in modem). All* the
routers have wired network sockets, so get a network card put in your PC
(most modern PC have them anyway).
Install router in place of current USB modem(sell on ebay), connect via
RJ45 cable to PC.
Configure ASDL wireless router to connect to NDO, check broadband works.
Get wireless xbox adapter
Plug it in and go tweak router for security reason.

Xbox will be wireless, PC will still be wired.
Router stays on all the time, so xbox live will work without the PC been
on.

*that I've seem.

Right OK thanks

Is this the network card?

Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family Gigabit Ethernet NIC

RJ45 are there 2 types?

So do NDO give me these settings for the router, I've printed out the
settings I put in the modem option screen, is it that kind of information I
need to put in the router?

Geez I need an adaptor for the xbox as well? So can I get that in the
high-street? I can't say I've seen it on my travels, but I guess I've not
really looked specifically for it.

Xbox will be wireless, PC will still be wired.
Router stays on all the time, so xbox live will work without the PC been
on.

Thats exactly what I want.

OK so all the routers do the same job, but I am sure I read yonks back some
don't work on Xbox live? Care to tell me the model of yours?

Cheers
