I managed to obtain a VGA cable, but not the official MS one. It seems to do the job and all seems to work fine, however rather than being able to set the resolutions as per HDTV (i.e 1080i) it allows a resolution as per a normal PC monitor, so i have therefore set it to 1280*1024 which i believe is the equivelant of 1080i.
It is normal that you have to choose resolutions with the vga cable. Choose the resolution closest to the native resolution of your hdtv. Don't think that your tv's native resolution is 1920x1080 (equivalent to 1080i) just because it accepts this mode. At least here in europe 90% of the sold hdtv's have a native resolution of 1376x768. If you input a higher/lower resolution, the tv will downscale/upscale and the quality will be noticable lower. So take your manual, look up teh natiev resolution and choose that one.
