Playing Div/X encoded files on the X360

... or rather not playing them.
First message here and I'm a rather surprised X360 owner who was lucky
enough to be in the right place at the right time to get a core system
plus HDD when it became available. Shame I can't find an RGB SCART lead
anywhere as I could then improve the picture and hook the X360 into the
amp. Still, at least I have a system.
Until my X360 acquisition I'd used a Kiss DP-1500
(http://tinyurl.com/9njqc) to play my .AVI files on the TV. I took that
off-line when I installed the X360 as I anticipated I'd view the files
via the X360. What I didn't realise until I tried this was that a .AVI
file could be Div/X encoded which, of course, the X360 won't play.
I have quite a few of these I'd like to watch and I've tried converting
them to something the X360 will use but no luck so far. I tried WinAVI
Convertor but that seems to take 350Mb files and turn them into 6Mb
files containing just the opening sequences. I also tried River Past
Video Cleaner but the X360 just sat there with the 'hour glass'
spinning when I tried to open the output file.
Before I put the Kiss back in use is there anything else around that
will convert the Div/X encoding to something the X360 will read?
Thanks.
Kevin
