Yeah, but the story only came to light last week that it turned out that 4
were offered to SmartXX last week and they said yes and told Microsoft who
set up trackers on another batch from China to the warehouse in Germany
where they were being pinched from. Then Microsoft in its infinite wisdom
tracked down the SmartXX guy and had his house turned over on a warrant (the
left hand did not know what the right hand was doing) even though they are
paying his legal fees for him.

Oh, I don't know - something like that, there is a poroly translated rant on
the FP of xbox-scene about it, I missed out the part about the motherboard

As for 360 chipping, the answer is yes, other than the evil reason, I have
no idea other than (MICROSOFT READ THIS BIT) to add more codecs to the
thing. Maybe linux. Sooner rather than later. Probably Easter. Yeah, Easter.




I thought MS had already said that security measures were built into the actual processor chip it's self. I'm sure MS have thought long and hard about it this time but there's always some uber brain that finds a hole to exploit.

I know that Sony have done a lot of hard work to prevent piracy. The Blu-Ray drives going into the PS3 (and probably other stand alone units) can be remotely disabled if connected to the net and piracy is detected.
