Not much discussion of GT 5 here it seems?
Someone's gotta start it! ;o)
Anyone know what the trigger is for permitting purchase of the Ferrari
F1 car?
Beating S class and having the patience to grind 2 million spods out
of the damned game.
Also, anyone got a preferred car/setup for completing the 700PP races in
the S Class?
Until last night I was using the (I'm probably going to get this
slightly wrong now) Mine's R34 GT Skyline, tuned with all the aero
turned to min, a decent amount of power, a little weight loss. I also
altered the final gear slightly (can't remember by how much) to give
it a smidge more accellerations. No driving aids at all, and dropped
the turning angle to 30. I can get silver in the first 700PP race
(fuji I think) in that one, but it takes some patience.
As per internet wisdom, I've moved to the Elise 111R/Tuned (available
from the concept section at the end of the top row of dealers for
100k). Tuned to full power, min weight and the aero is adjusted down
uniformly between the front and back to get it on 700PP. ASM is on, as
it's like ice skating if you don't, turning circle down to 30. It's a
bit fiesty, and I have yet to make it all the way through the final
700PP race with it, but I can get to 6th or 7th by the end of lap one,
up to 4th by lap 3 and then I do something stupid. I seem to be able
to get a bit more "nudgy" with the elise without penalty (great for
taking a few cars through the first 5 or 6 corners). The penalty
system tends to get a little more sensitive as you move up the field,
so you have to race with a little more finesse after about 10th place.
The elise is a little more seat-of-the-pants than the Skyline, but
it's a better setup for suzuka IMO.
Finally managed to get 3rd in S-10 last night using the Elise 111R/Tuned
Bloody relief - took about 4-5 hours of game time to get it right.
Similar setup to yours, except I had the aero high at the back but low
at the front - probably suits my driving "style" better.
What I also found was that the race outcome could be largely predicted:
GT40 LMs and Amuse S2000s would finish near the front, but Corvettes
would gravitate toward the back - so..... I kept starting a new race
until by random Corvettes started in 1st/2nd - and then in the race
they basically held all the other cars up for a while, giving me a
chance to catch up - so long as I could keep the damned Elise from
falling off the road! (& also whatever was running 2nd spun off on the
last chicane at the end of Lap 3, which helped a lot as well).
Now to trundle the Elise round the Daytona oval in the S class race on
that track to save enough for the Ferrari F1 - got 700,000 credits so
far..... <yawn>
Cheers,
Marlon
