But why shaft the European market? The north American PS3 has retained PS2
compatibility and has gained a larger than 60GB hard drive.

They've released the 40GB no-BC version over there now too.

But are canning it in favour of a fully featured version with 80GB drive - at a cheaper price than the European version.

Crazy. For a company whose fortune has, in a competitive market place, depended so much on a single product it is just simply odd that they would treat one of the most important markets in the world (arguably more important than the US market) with such contempt.
