Absolutely loved it despite it taking me nearly all night to suss that
pressing the triangle button changed the flight mode on the warhawk,
and that holding down the R1 button actually locks on to targets with
missiles.
I was playing on a 32 player CTF server all night, and it's fairly
obvious that most people were very much just getting used the the
game. A quick tutorial or even a set of screens would have been great
for a first time - how the *** anyone with an SDTV is going to read
the hint text is beyond me.
ground combat isn't up to the standards of halo or UT, but the
vehicular combat was amazing. No lag, no slowdown, voice chat works
well (when you've figure out how to turn everyone but the people you
want to talk to off). I'd imagine teamwork would be more prevalent on
servers with fewer players, but in a 32 player game it was pretty much
just a free-for-all.
I've never played an online game where just sitting in a turret was so
much fun. ;o)
R1 lock on also works with handheld rocket launchers and some turrets.
I tried to get into the UGVP game last night but there was no mention of a password on here.
