Does it look next gen PS3 hypey though - the screens didn't look anything
stunning

Well as stunning as far as I do not think the PS2 would have done it.

talk about a kick in the balls.

Has a great draw distance too.

well you'd hope so, for a game involving flying around a bit.

It's not bad, considering the amount of particles/stuff that can be
flying around in big battles - the frame rate doesn't seem to drop at
any point.
The 'friends' management still needs a lot of work - the fact you
can't check anything regarding your friends while in a game is
useless. The clan support makes
it easier to find your 'clan members' from the menus but the second
you create a server (which you can password), you can't then
communicate with anyone
unless they're already in the game, so you very much need everyone to
just know where to go.

If you're joining and everyone else is already online, it's easier to
join your friends though. As long as the matches aren't full.

On a basic Nat-2 8meg (6.5 real) DSL line, I can host an 8-player
server. It seems to be based on upstream limits the most.
There are about 10 Sony servers, all 32 player, running ranked matches
(maybe per gametype), and then a wide mix of other user servers.

Anyway, there's a basic u.g.v.p (with a sometimes running server UGVP)
clan set up with just me and hurricanepilot in it as of 11pm this
evening (did you get the invite beck ?). If anyone else wants to be
added, just email us
or post your PSN-ID here and we can maybe get more people in the same
place. A lot of the ranked matches don't seem to use headsets, and
when they do, they're full of french people. Still,
it's better than the american teenagers.....

Overall, I'd say it's a great bit of multiplayer fun, but don't expect
CoD4. It's probably closer, gameplay wise, to Halo, than anything else
(awaits onslaught from halo fanboys). I'm sure there'll be more
feedback tomorrow.
