It's here!! I have it!! I can't read Japanese!!
Just thought I'd post to say that I installed it, patched it and
jumped into an online lobby over lunch. I'd read various reports of
the online not working on pal machines, but mine's a UK machine, I'm
using a UK account, and with the japanese version of the game I got
through all the online stuff and into a lobby with loads of little
dudes running about with names above their heads.
When you fire up the game, click the start option to get you to the
main menu, choose the third option down (online play), and you'll get
a couple of japanese messages, and it'll then download a patch (2 nice
progress bars, so you'll know it's happening). When it's done, it goes
to another screen with just a message in japanese. I can only assume
this message says something like "reboot your PS3" as there's not
button options on it at all. I rebooted.
The next time in, it'll do all that again and download an bigger
patch. reboot.
third time in, you get a quick message that I can only assume means
it's connecting, and then you eventually get a dialog up with what
must be terms and conditions. I chose the wrong option first time and
was booted back to the main menu, and I had to reboot in order to get
back to the T&C screen. I think the button on the right is the one you
need to choose.
