I bought a PS3 in NY at the end of Jan. and brought it back here in the UK. I rarely played it and one day i turned it to play and 5 minutes into the game it just went blank. The PS3 turns on but I can't do anything. Nothing is displayed on the screen and can't eject the disc so the PS3 has been collecting dust for the past 6 weeks. Anyone know what could be wrong or where I might get it fixed?

Try resetting the machine display settings by holding down the power on button for about 5 seconds from standby. You should hear a second beep, then see if it switches on.

I tried what you have suggested but no change, just a red light flashing.

Only thing I can suggest is to call Sony. They will probably try and bum you for a repair charge as it was not purchased here, but worth calling them and seeing what they say.
