hi all...
Well, I am considering buying a HD, Progressive scan, lcd-type, of
television, for my console games, mostly for my Ps2 system. This is
about all I use my tv for, for to play games. Time to Consider, as the
smaller screen sized lcds are becoming affordable for mere mortals,
namely me!
yes, I have read, on these very forums, that there are issues with
"game lag", but i play mostly rpgs, I am playing final fantasy xii,
now. Even at 65 years old, I play mostly games on my tv.
I have now a very good 27" Toshiba, with component hookups to my
consoles, and I have a fairly good image on the tv. This tv is the
probably the last generation that is not progressive scan, not HD,
even though it has the s-video and the component red/blue/green
hookups.
At my local best buy, there are several sets that are now down in the
$700-$900
range, on sale.
-their own Insignia 32 inch NS-32lcd . a good image, but i read
they have cheap
parts, often do not last long.
--Samsung LNS 2641D 26"
--several Toshibas with [I read] cheap DVD players but a good image,
19" to 26".
I do not have a car, I cringe to take my ps2 on the city bus to try
out their tvs, at Best Buy. maybe there is, on the internet, places
where I can find images of games that are on a progressive scan, HD
tv.
So my Question is.....
---Would there be an image improvement over the images from my non-
progressive Toshiba, in buying a progressive scan HD tv, probably from
one of the sets listed above. would there actually be an image
improvement worth the cost and the effort, in having one of these
sets?!
---*and*...which tv under $900 would be my best choice?!
does anyone here have any experiences going up from a good component
tv to a progressive scan
type of HD-ready tv, preferly a lcd, as i have found that many of the
crt tube-types are hard on my eyes, when viewing real close up, as I
would do with my games?
so so many varibles, so many options...
Thank you....

Absolutely not. A PS2 will look *much* worse on an HDTV than a normal TV because it wasn't designed to run in HD. There are about 3 games on PS2 that run in HD and/or progressive. If you don't have or don't intend to get a HDTV service, a 360 or a PS3, anything other than a standard definition CRT will make your picture look infinitely worse.
