It *may* not have been a prequel. Dormin has probably been around for a very
long time, and people may have been sacrificing those boys for years, simply
because of the resemblance, and worry that he may possess them. Either that,
or they may have been the incarnations of him, hence trapping them in the
castle with the shadowy queen. The flying ghost boys in Ico were the
spitting image of Dormin, so may have been trapped partial essences.

Perhaps they finally trapped dormin in one location (the forbidden land)
after Ico toppled the fortress? Then again, perhaps they're completely
unrelated. :)

As another idea as to what happens with Dormin, I think perhaps, sacrifices
were supposed to be brought in, and he possesses them as the dead are
brought back. The difference in this was that the warrior was willing to pay
any price, so the girl was brought back, whilst he himself became possessed.

Did you notice that after each colossus fight, Wander actually looked much
worse for wear, until at the last one, he was covered in bruises, grime and
blood?
