I'm most excited about the news of an updated game engine. There was
nothing left to do with the camera from the old PS2 game, so a brand new
GTA4-esque environment can only be an improvement.
Hauruka's story sounds like it might be a bit weird to play out as I
think the plan is that she's setting out to become and "Idol".
Believe it or not, there's precedent for that. In Yakuza 2 there's a whole
set of side quests that involve Haruka single-handedly exposing a scam
artist who claims to be a talent agent. Other NPCs in the series have all
commented in one way or another on Haruka's potential star quality.
I was rather hoping that Yakuza 5 would be set a few years after Yakuza 4,
in a time when all the orphanage has grown up and Haruka finds herself a
grudging participant in the gangster lifestyle that Kiryu has struggled to
shield her from. That might be too grim and depressing though.
