Uncategorically yes. When I was playing WoW, I pretty much didn't buy or play any other games, and clocked up something like 750 hours of playtime.
A single one off cost with subscription on top is taking the piss, but it's what people are used to having to do to play MMO's.
Multiple "one off" costs for each game, plus subscription is really taking the piss!
But do you get 9 games worth of *new content* a year? 9 full games worth? Because one could very easily sink 750 hours into an offline game (Football Manager seems the obvious one) that costs £20 with no monthly fee.
You didn't ask that question, you asked if you get the same *value* in an MMO as you do from 9 new games a year. ;)
