I know there is considerable experience in this group regarding Xbox
repairs, so thought you guys might be able to field this one. My bro
has got a busted 360 (controller is not recognised - he tried a
different controller and that controller on a different 360, so that
is not the issue) and it is out of warranty.
So, he rang their support and they wouldn't give him a repair cost,
they just said to give them a credit card number and send it off. That
can't be right surely? What sort of cost could he be looking at?
I think it was something like £90 (ish) to book a repair in over the phone. It's cheaper doing it online through the website.
Although handing over his CC details without any view of the costs is a bit naive to be honest. MS could charge him anything they wanted and have a good case to say he agreed. They've given me repair costs every time I've rang up and asked.
Had he tried other things first (using the play and charge cable to connect the controller, making sure the sync process is followed properly etc?) before he allowed MS to charge him an unknown amount for a repair?
.
