Confirmed for September, bundled with Halo: ODST.
3 new maps, including a faithful-looking remake of Midship from H2
(which makes me very happy, in a nostalgic kind of way).
Not quite sure what the thinking is behind giving away new maps for
Halo 3 with a game that is supposed to be (sort of) its successor in
terms of online activity. Whatever, I was going to buy ODST anyway
and the free maps are a nice little bonus.
Thought both games were going to be compatible online, so that Halo 3
and Halo ODST peeps could all play together?
Ah, right. I didn't know that.
Seems a little odd - does that mean that ODST will have no new/exclusive
content? Given the massive online following that the Halo games have, it
would seem like a really odd decision if the multiplayer in ODST was a
straight recreation of H3.
The 3 mythic maps are all that exclusive I believe, the rest of the
maps are Halo 3 core maps and the various add-ons that have been
released. The MP comes on a separate disk to the ODST SP campaign and
if I'm reading some internet sites correctly, the MP achievements that
you get from the MP portion of ODST are actually tied to Halo 3, not
ODST...?
To be honest, I'm not that interested in the multiplayer so I'm only
basing that on a 3 minute wiki scan and what the bloke what plays halo
here at work has been wittering on about.
