Aerosmith. With the exception of about 3 songs, I've never heard
any of the tracks in either of the games. Now Guitar Hero is
slightly more understandable because I've never been a fan of
Aerosmith, but Rock Band?!
Is it just me or are the set lists really ***? Where are the
songs people actually know? When the occasional hit comes up that
I recognise, I enjoy the game 10x more. But they are so few and
far between!
Okay, perhaps I'm just a boring old Radio 2 listener. But where
are all the good songs? There are so many available, yet there is
such utter dross in these games. Even when you have big bands,
it's nearly always an obscure album track.
I keep thinking they are saving the best 'til last, but I'm about
half way through Rock Band and there's still nothing to get
excited about. Also, is it me or is Rock Band incredibly easy? I
went straight in
on expert, and I've not failed a single song on my first attempt
yet and I'm currently working my way through the songs in Chicago.
I bought GH2 on a whim and really enjoyed probably at least 50% of
the tracks.
GHIII was also bought on a whim and the number of good tracks had
dropped to about 30%.
I've left RB\RB2\GHWT\That new crap revolution game alone cos IMO
the set lists are just plain awful. If I have to actually play the
game in order to recognise the songs then the set list is wrong.
When the radio 2 version comes out I'll be first in line.
I've not listened to Radio 2 for ages. I tend to suffer local radio
for the traffic news.
I read through the track list for RB2 a while back and I think I
recognised about a dozen songs by title. I didn't recognise many
more of the band names. The games appeal to those who like
metal\heavy rock IMO and that isn't me. I like the concept of the
games and they are fun to play but when the music you're playing
along to is rubbish it's not going to appeal. If they had more
modern music (2000+) then I reckon they'd sell a load more. All IMO
of course.
played the game, how on earth can you say it appeals to metal fans??
You *are* Jochta.
Mainly cos all of the stuff I didn't recognise in GH3 was metal\heavy rock. And it was rubbish.
Yes, GH3 is wank. GH under Neversoft is wank. Rock Band is good. Different team, different publisher. That's like saying you didn't like Quake because it was brown therefore Halo is *** and brown.
The main problem I have is that these games are expensive. Dropping 120+ quid on a tracklist you have no idea if you'll enjoy is just too much. And yes I know you can just buy the game but I'm not spending 40 quid on a game I don't know I'll enjoy. Besides, there are achievements for drums, vocals etc. :-)
Again, you obviously have no real interest in music whatsoever, so you're a long way short of the target audience. So don't buy it. 90%+ of people who buy it will have heard and could recognise Creep and In Bloom. It's not their fault you've never heard any music before.
