Monster Hunter Freedom 2 (PSP)
Thought I'd give it a go, having heard several people talk it up.
It's by far my favourite game on the system (coming up to 150 hours of
play time now), but it doesn't do itself any favours in the first few
hours in terms of giving you guidance on what you should be doing.
If you find you're having trouble with the combat, I'd start with either
Sword and Shield or Dual Blade weapons. They're nice quick weapons, so
you don't have to get into the business of learning attack patterns. You
can just wade in and hit stuff. Big, slow weapons are more powerful, so
you naturally tend to pick them first, but you'll probably struggle to
even make contact with them initially.
Also, don't feel you have to do all the training missions. Try the ones
for weapons you're interested in, then get stuck into quests for the
village elder. Ignore the guild initially, as those quests are much
harder.
The nice thing about the game, though, is that there's no permanent
character changes, so you can't ever really do anything wrong, or make
wrong choices. Your entire character comes from the equipment they have
on, and there's no levelling or anything like that, so unlike something
like Warcraft, if you change your mind about what sort of character you
want, you just change your equipment.
A couple of useful sites:
http://skiesofcrimson.com/ - Loads of guides and videos, plus weapon
crafting tables.
http://monsterhunter.wikia.com/ - Articles, guides and
all sorts.
i am having probs with last link....anyways, I been really enjoying God of
War: Chains of Olympus, how does that compare to Moster hunter 2?
