Re: Play, Want, Bin, what's it going to bi?

Play:

World of Warcraft (PC) - We has a guild! Look at our collective hats! Did a
bit of questing on Bloodmyst, and now I've headed down to Ashenvale and
Stonetalon. It's weird seeing all the Elven architecture from a Gnome's
eye level. Voidwalkers are ace, though - use them to hold aggro on a group of
mobs whilst spamming them with DOTs and you can take down large groups pretty
easily. Nice. Wish I had a more powerful healing spell to cast on it, though,
as if he gets killed it's usually a fairly spectacular and messy death.

TrackMania Nations Forever (PC) - So this is (a) quite addictive and (b) quite
tricky. Also, other racing game developers take note: I can press one key and
be *instantly* transported back to the start of a race or challenge, so if I
*** it up (which I do, a lot), I can retry instantly without having to sit
through a ***-ton of menus and loading screens and other bull***. Hooray for
extremely pretty bonkers puzzle-racing-physics-toy lunacy. Might even pay for
the full game too.

Lumines (PC) - So, I was going to go to bed on Friday night, and this popped
up in my Steam new releases RSS feed. *** YOU, VALVE. I WANT FRIDAY NIGHT
BACK. That's three platforms I've bought this on now, and the PC port is easily
the weakest. Fortunately, it was also the cheapest, so I'm not too bitter.

Buzz: The Mega Quiz (PS2) - Causing marriage-threatening arguments in the
Whitworth household since March 2008. What happens is this: Naomi gets upset
that I'm playing games, I suggest we play something 2-player so she can join
in, and the only thing she'll play is Buzz because it's only got five buttons
and they're all big and friendly and non-threatening. Them I proceed to hammer
her stupid on the fastest-finger-first round having reactions honed by too
many Japanese scrolling shmups, and she gets into a huff because I've won
/again/ and then we watch Grand Designs. Winner!

Want:

A Buzz game without any fastest-finger-first rounds, and with much, much
harder questions - I'm talking University Challenge/Mastermind standard here,
please. The "Hard" questions just don't cut it, I'm afraid.

Bin:

The load times for Trackmania. Spending 3 minutes on an entirely black screen
whilst the hard disc churns and the machine fails to respond to any input?
Nuhuh, not good. I was just on the verge of rebooting when the main menu popped
up. Fortunately, it was okay after that, but the initial load doesn't fill me
with confidence.
