Keystone Kapers (2600)
The... (counts) ...third best game on the 2600, behind Adventure and
Frostbite. I never did get very far, as level 4 or 5 ish was too bloody hard,
but I loved it anyway.
Kirby's Dreamland (GB)
Not the Kirby we know and love! He's a puffball, and he sucks in enemies, but
in this first outing for him, he can't duplicate their moves and weapons.
Going back to it now is like removing a limb. It's good, but somewhat lacking
without the thing Kirby is famous for!
Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland (GBA)
This is more like it! It's a port of the NES Kirby's Adventure game, but much
better in the same way that Super Mario Advance 4 is better than Super Mario
Bros 3. Or something.
Kirby's Adventure (NES)
As above. Only less shiny.
Konami Krazy Racers (GBA)
Got in there just before Mario Kart Super Circuit, but does an admirable job
of replicating Nintendo's series. And it has Goeman in it.
Kuru Kuru Kururin (GBA)
One of my first GBA games. Possibly the second one I ever bought, in fact.
Never did complete it as later levels were frustrating and hard and I kept
doing them wrong. Nice idea, but waaaaay too hard. Oh, and it's called "Spinny
Spinny Stick Game" here.
Krusty's Super Fun House (MD)
I hadn't seen a single episode of The Simpsons when this came out (it was only
on Sky at the time), so I didn't get the "jokes", but this was quite possibly
one of the best licenced games ever. It isn't really Lemmings (like most
people compare it to), as you have to kill all the rats and you control a
character not a pointer (making it part platformer, part puzzle game). One
final level, with hidden platforms, stumped me though, and I never finished
it. I do remember the cheat mode was activated with the password "Hi kids"
though :)
Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer (GC)
With Tony Hawk making a killing around the THP3/4 era, it wasn't surprising to
see similar surfing, snowboarding, BMXing, rollerblading and even wakeboarding
games released. Kelly Slater plays very much like THPS, albeit on a single
wave, but isn't as limited as you might expect. I had fun, anyway.
Keio Flying Squadron (MCD)
A witch shoot-em-up with almost-Parodius levels of silliness? SOLD!
Kid Chameleon (MD)
A sadly overlooked platformer for the MD. It was HUGE. I completed it once and
it took a good three or more hours to play through. Loads of different hats
(each giving different skills and powers) add plenty of variety, and some
difficult bosses and even some puzzle-based levels keep you interested. It's
only issue was there's no save mechanism - not even passwords - making it a
long slog to the end in one sitting. Thankfully, its appearance on the VC
sorts that problems, and the purchase of my Onyko as fixed the flickering
screen issue there too. Ace!
King of Fighters R2 (NeoGeo Pocket)
Fantastic. It's a cut-down version of the "grown-up" NeoGeo series, but with
amazing SD sprites and stuff.
Kikstart 2 (Speccy)
So many hours spend designing levels on this. In fact, more hours spent
designing levels than actually playing the game. Why isn't there a game like
this now?
Kameo (360)
HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I mean, releasing this was *meant* to be a joke,
right Rare? You're still working on the real Kameo, yes?
King's Quest: My first "big" computer game. Those were the days,
sitting in front of a CGA monitor, walking around and getting killed
repeatedly. To make it even more difficult, all of it was in english.
And no pictures to click on. No sir. So you got an about 7 years old
boy, sitting in front of the computer, using a dictionary, looking up
words like "tree" and "climb"....My first steps in the English
language, haha.
I had this (or one of the sequels) for the Amiga, and the disk swapping was
horrific. Much like every other pointy-clicky game at the time, in fact.
